I read this article today, Are You Lonely, Mama? I couldn’t agree more.
Motherhood is wonderful, amazing, and a gift from the Lord. The baby giggles and smiles are contagious. Watching older ones be successful in school makes a momma’s heart proud. So many wonderful moments.
But it is also a very LONELY time in life (and as nice as social meida is, I think it makes the loneliness worse). There are many long days and even longer nights. Loneliness can sometimes (especially if you have lots of littles and they are sick often) overwhelm you.
I have been there. I am there right now. In the middle of the long days and even longer nights. In the midst of this loneliness I must turn to Jesus. He is there, in the midst of the dishes, diapers, throw up, and poop. I have no other choice but to cling to the solid rock, Jesus Christ. One day there will be only a few dishes, no more diapers or throw up or poop. One day the children will be grown and loneliness will take on a new form. It will be loneliness for those little smiles, giggles, and laughter.
Carpe diem – Seize the day!
